I’m pleased to announce I will be teaching an mbira workshop at WOMAD this year through my company Taste of Southern Africa.

The African mbira is a beautiful instrument with a sound that has traditionally been used in the southern parts of Africa as a spiritual pathway for guidance and healing.

I teach using the slightly more contemporary fifteen key F-major mbira called Nyunga Nyunga (or Kalimba) from Zimbabwe, and my workshops cover folk music from Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe. I typically include a bit of singing and the mbira classes are a lovely way to relax through music.
